Christmas In July Part II

Hi everyone, Toni here with some more Christmas cards. Trying to get ahead of my holiday crafting projects and I made a few more cards I would love to share with you.

I had so much fun utilizing many of T!m's goodies and I hope you enjoy the cards.

The first cards I used the Sizzlets Mini Snowflake Rosette and also the regular size Snowflake Rosette. Distressed the edges with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink and Glossy Accents sprinkled with Diamond Dust provided the glisten to the card.
Titles on all 3 of my cards were cut out using T!ms Thinlits Holiday Greetings.
The next card I used the 3D Embossing Folder Lumber and distressed with Gathered Twigs. I cut out Sizzix Layered Holiday Wreath 3 times in different colored green cardstock and layed on top of each other for thickness.

Cut two sets of the bows in order to layer out of red velvet cardstock. Applied Diamond Dust with Glossy Accents for some shine. Used Stickles in Rhubard for holly berries.

The last card I used the Sizzix Window die cut and cut out chipboard then white cardstock in order to make it 3D. The mat behind the window was used with Kraft cardstock and run through Lumber 3D embossing folder. I then cut out several of Thinlits Holiday Mini Greens in order to create a layered effect. Added Nuvo Drops in Berry Red for the holly. My homemade snow was created by mixing baking soda, glue, white paint and applied to the base of the window and on the greenery. While wet I sprinkled Diamond Dust.
Hoping you enjoyed this little bit of Christmas In July and that it inspires you to get a head start on your Christmas cards. Happy Creating xoxo Toni

Christmas In July/Mixed Media Cards by Toni

Hello everyone, Toni here and today I have a fun project for Art Anthology design team. We have a mood board this month and the colors are HOT HOT HOT ! But they also reminded me of Christmas and I thought... that's perfect maybe creating something for the upcoming holidays will cool me off a bit. Well let's get started.

For the first card I decided to use my gelli plate and makes some prints with my paints and then use my die cut machine to make some poinsettias.
The foundation of the card I used AA's Floral Tile stencil and Mud texture paste and then finished it off with Nuvo drops for the centers.
The prints from the gelli plate were the perfect blend of colors for the petals on my flowers. I used T!m's Poinsettia Die for the flowers.
Using homemade snow (equal parts white paint, glue and baking soda) I added to the petals and while wet applied Diamond Dust Glitter. Also Seed beads to the centers.
The 2nd card I achieved the background by using my AA paints and applying them to T!m's 3D  Botanical folder.
I love this technique because when using the embossing folder with the paints, it blends them beautifully and the paint absorbs into the fibers of the papers seamlessly.
I also embossed the Sizzix Wings and on the poinsettia I used AA's Amber paint on the 3D folder but only added it here and there so that not all of the embossing was covered with amber.
A for my last card I did a gelli print and added the stencil "Twilight" to the plate and then applied my paper. Love the distressed uneven effect you get when using your gelli plate.
Cut out my Sizzix Nested Star and applied dimensional foam stickers to each star. All the titles for my cards were die cut from T!m's Greetings. I hope you enjoyed my cards and I appreciate you stopping by. Wishing you a beautiful day ! xoxo Toni

Creating With Limited Art Supplies

Hi everyone, Toni here to share a quick a DT project for Art Anthology regarding making art and having limited supplies. As a crafter or artist we can spend a small fortune to have everything we want, but that is not necessary when your creative juices are flowing and you just have to get your hands messy. I find inspiration from photos that I see on the web many times and the colors in the photos inspired my project.
I decided I wanted to rust some papers and metal stuff I had laying around the house. I gathered a bucket, distilled vinegar, hydrogen peroxide and salt. Mixed it well and then laid my items in the bucket. It took only about 10 minutes for the papers to rust and about 30 minutes to and hour for the metal to rust. I then laid everything out on paper towels in the sun for a few hours.

Once they were done rusting I sprayed them with Mod Podge Matt Sealer just to stop the rusting process and seal my rusting metals. Adhered the rusted paper towel to the foundation of my journal page and did a small collage of some of my rusty tags, index cards and book pages.

Did a bit of doodling and added some rusty metal pieces. Dry brushed the photo with white gesso to help blend with background and dripped some Wild Orchid Coloration spray from Art Anthology to bring out the colors that are in the photo.
Hoping this has inspired you to not allow the amount of supplies you have to hinder your creativity. Use what you have, have fun with it. Mixed media is perfect for this because you have the freedom to create out of the box. xoxo Toni

Mixed Media Tag with Toni

Hi everyone, hope your week is starting off fabulous !  Art Anthology has a beautiful moodboard to inspire you to get messy with your paints. My design team project is a fun tag. Le'ts get started !

I decided to create some prints from my gelli plate. Using Art Anthology Shine paint in Canary, Ruby and Kelly I applied with brayer roller.
Once dry I cut out a dragonfly 3 times using Sizzix layered Dragonfly with Texture Fade. I wanted dimension and multiple wings for my dragonfly.
The foundation of the card I stamped using T!m's new stamps Entomology with black archival ink. I also added an Ideology Philosophy Tag.
Dry brush a bit of white gesso over the images to soften and blend into the background.
Then applied my dragonfly and attached a metal key to the body.

Using white gesso I painted over the top of the T!m's Ideology Quote Band and attached to tag using twine.
Hope you enjoyed and were inspired. I always appreciate your comments and wishing you a creative month of July ! xoxo Toni

All We Need Is Love Journal Page

Hi everyone, Toni here with a new journal page for Art Anthology. Art journaling can be very liberating. It provides an outlet to try out new techniques, some quick creating if need be, a place to jot down your thoughts etc. You can make your own art journal book if you don't happen to have one, by using an old book, gluing pages together to create a strong substrate. There are many YOUTUBE tutorials for your viewing.
I began my background with texture provided by T!m's 3D Texture Fades Cogs and Gears and I ripped the papers and applied them randomly to the background. I also then applied dry wall tape in pieces to the background and then prepped it with white gesso.
Paints that I used are from Art Anthology's Velvet line and also their Patina and Rust Texture Paste Sets. You can purchase these HERE.
Cogs and gears were diecut from chipboard and rusted to the background.
T!'m's Ideology Paper Dolls were added to the page and shadowed with charcoal pencil.
Washi Tape and random ephemera were also added as a backdrop under my paper dolls as well as torn muslin that was stamped with a script stamp and black archival ink.

Hoping you enjoyed this post and would love to hear your comments. For your pleasure I have included a step x step tutorial below. Happy creating xoxo Toni
