Mixed Media Jewelry Christmas Tree

Merry Christmas everyone, it's that time of year when everything seems to have just a bit more sparkle in the air. I decided to take some of my old jewelry that was lacking sparkle and put some sparkle back into it with this mixed media canvas. It's my turn on Art Anthology's blog today to provide some inspiration.
I decided to take the back of this canvas and adhere a bunch of old broken jewelry I had and create some new life into it. I adhered the jewelry pieces in the shape of a tree and then primed the surface with gesso.
I also added Mud Paste and art stones to the back of the canvas for more texture, then I got out my spays and Minx shimmering inks and away I went.
The outside of the frame was an old photo mat I had and I primed it with gesso and then using Art Anthology's Ringlet stencil and pretty Sorbet paints I colored it up. Then for the final touches I add gemstones and pearls here and there. Super easy and fun technique and I always love a way to recycle old items. Hope you give this a try. For your pleasure I have also included a video below so you can view my creative process. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year !

Altered Art Journal Cover

Hi crafty peeps... Today I have for you a design team project for Art Anthology and I'm dressing up the front of my art journal.

I titled the front of my journal  "Anthology". I felt is was fitting:  Merriam Webster says:  anthology  noun an·thol·o·gy  Definition of anthology  1a collection of selected literary pieces or passages or works of art or music.

Adding texture to the front was grungeboard letters, latex lace and Mud Paste ran through 2 different stencils.
The painting process as well as adding the Colorations can be viewed below in my video for your pleasure. I appreciate you stopping by and taking the time to view my blog. Hope you were inspired and will give this easy technique a try. Creatively yours, Toni

Cozy Christmas Reverse Canvas

Hi everyone, hope you are having fun creating for the upcoming holidays. ReneaBouquets had a reverse canvas challenge "Cozy Christmas" and this is what I came up with. Hope you are inspired.
I altered the inside of the canvas with chipboard to create little cubbies to fill with Christmas goodies. Lots of ReneaBouquets items here as well as Ideaology.
Love making these shadow boxes because each one takes on a life of it's own and the items you can add to them is endless.
The outside of the box I decorated with pretty cotton crocheted lace from ReneaBouquets and I will list the products below of all that I used.
Wishing you a Christmas filled with magic and wonder. For your pleasure I have created a process video below which explains this canvas a little more in detail. xoxo Toni

Farmhouse Style Explosion Box for ReneaBouquets

Hi everyone, Toni here with a fun new project for ReneaBouquets. These are the brand new Explosion Box/Ornaments that are now available in the store.

My Christmas theme this year is Farmhouse Rustic and so I wanted to dress this little box up like a woodsy diorama to sit on my table.
The horse was painted first with silver paint pounced on for texture and then embossed with silver EP for a fun metal effect.
I wanted the corrugated metal look on the sides so I achieved this using Metallics Kraft Paper, give it a light sand and distressing it with Black Soot Reinker.
The ReneaBouquet Explosion Box and decorative snowflakes were all painted with a simple coat of white gesso and then  Gathered Twigs DI was used on the edges .
The top of the box was decorated with Sizzix Poinsettia and Festive Greens diecuts.  And to finish to off a light coat of DIY snow was applied everywhere along with Rock Candy glitter.
Hope you enjoyed. For your pleasure I have included a process video below for your viewing.

Cozy Christmas Layout for Art Anthology

Hi eveyone, it's my turn for a Art Anthology project and I'm using one of my favorite stencils "Twilight" today along with texture paste, beads, glitter, chipboard, flowers etc. etc. etc.

It's so easy to take a simple layout and give that extra pazazz with mixed media. Just a bit of paste run through a stencil can make a world of difference.
This layout may look difficult but it actually was very simple. I think I got it done in about 2 hours, which is great for me.

Adding Mud paste and while still wet I sprinkled on some gorgeous ReneaBouquets Dark Red Microbeads for more texture.
Using AA's Metal Effects Gold here and there on the layout spritzed everything up a bit.
And then for a bit of whimsy I altered up some Blue Fern chipboard, T!m Holtz quote chips and Christmas Ephemera.  I hope you are inspired.

Adventures Await Layout

Hi everyone, today I'm having fun with Art Anthology's stencils. They are an easy way to adventure dimension as well as interest to your projects. I only needed to use one of our stencils ... Scales... because it actually has 3 different designs on it. So let's get started.
Below is a video so you can watch me create this layout in detail . I started off by adding Art Antholoy's Mud mixed with craft sand and ran it through a scroll shape for my corners of layout.

Using another portion of the stencil I added some dimension here and there on the layout around the photos.
Then to add a bit of contrast color I ran our Sorbet-Leaf through another section of the same stencil.
I encourage you to get your hands on some of our stencils, they make scrapbooking so much fun and the ideas are endless. Have a special day and happy creating !

Explosion Box/Ornament for ReneaBouquets

Hi everyone, today I'm up on the blog to share with you a project using the new Explosion Box/Ornaments that can be purchased at ReneaBouquets. These boxes are perfectly adorable without doing anything to them, but they are so much fun to decorate as well. The poinsettias above were highlighted with homemade snow... baking soda, white paint and white glue mixed together.
I left the box in it's natural state and embellished it using Blue Fern's Vintage Christmas paper. Also adding some dark red microbeads to the carousel horse.
With the addition of some deep red rhinestones to some of the beautiful board (from ReneaBouquets) decorative pieces.

Here is a better photograph of the darling carousel horse and I added some Stickled embellished poinsettias from ReneaBouquets also to add that Christmas look.
To finish it off I also added a T!m Holtz Lantern which will look so pretty on my Christmas tree.
For your enjoyment I have included a video below so you can watch my creative process. Listed on the video is also all the products and their websites for ReneaBouquets goodies. xoxo Toni

Enjoy The Ride Journal Page

Happy Halloween all, today I have a journal page for Art Anthology and it's inspired by this month's moodboard.

Mixed media can sometimes be intimidating to some and I hope this post encourages you "Don't be afraid of mixed media ... Enjoy the Ride".
I find my art journal is a perfect place to play and experiment with new techniques. Allows me to make notes on my page of what works and what I'm not too fond of.
This page I wanted to try Seth Aptners Baked Enamel on wet texture paste and I really like the results.
I also wanted to see if Art Anthology's Sorbet-Glass paint could possibly be used as an adhesive for foiling and gilding flakes and it also worked nicely. Left my chipboard and nice high gloss with randomly areas of foil... Very organic.... Get yourself an art journal... or just gather some mixed media paper, watercolor paper or even cardstock and start playing..... but most of all "Enjoy that Ride" !

Altered Gift Boxes for ReneaBouquets Guest Design Team

What a fun time I have had as guest designer for ReneaBouquets this month. Having the opportunity to work with the gorgeous products from their store has been such a treat. Today I have my last guest design team project for this month and it's some cute little boxes I altered to put gifts in for some friends.
I purchased these little boxes at Michaels for $1.50 I believe and they are the perfect size to put a special little something in for a gift. With Christmas right around the corner I new I needed to grab a few of these and alter.
I started off first by coloring each box with a different DI ink and then went to town on embellishing each one differently with ReneaBouquet Beautiful Boards and flowers.
Each flower was dipped in melted UTEE to give a pretty glass-like appearance.

A list of supplied used from ReneaBouquets is listed in my video below. I hope you take a moment and drop by the store, you will be amazed at her products. Wishing you days of creative bliss !

Halloween Wreath/Guest Design Team Project for ReneaBouquets

Hi everyone, today I have a Guest Design Team Project I created featuring ReneaBouquets items.
It's Halloween here in the USA and I have refurbished an old spring wreath that was headed for the trash. Spray painted it black here and there and then decorated it with some gorgeous ReneaBouquets  items from their store.
ReneaBouquets's Beautiful Board takes paints, sprays and embossing beautifully. The flowers are exquisite and really need no altering.
This BB Haunted House and Gothic Border where given some texture a bit and then the house was backed by alcohol inked acetate for the windows.
The cobweb clock was embossed with black and gold UTEE for a shiny surface. The black doily lace was touched with a bit of Art Alchemy Wax for a subtle glimmer.
These Ivy Leaves were also embossed with black UTEE and the roses just added that pop of color to the image and frame where needed.

Hope you enjoyed this post and for your pleasure I have included a process video below. Be sure to drop by ReneaBouquets store to see her gorgeous items.

Shaker Canvas for ReneaBouquets Canvas Swap

Hi everyone, Toni here with a new project for ReneaBouquets canvas swap.
ReneaBouquets has so many fun embellishments, lace, butterflies etc. to create with and I wasn't really sure what to start with so I just went with it. My partner had told me she enjoys  shaker creations so I wanted to include this on her canvas.
The shaker is filled with shard glitter glass, glass microbeads and tiny beautiful bit hearts from ReneaBouquets store.  My muse for this first of all is the fall textures and colors that surround me at this time of year which I adore.
The Beautiful Board here used is Quilling and it takes paints and spray awesome ! These mulberry flowers are the Honey Curly Roses and there are so many more flowers to choose from in the store.
Hope you were inspired and that you will drop by ReneaBouquets to take a look at all the spectacular goodies ! Wishing you a month full of creativity ! xoxo Toni
